Logo design and branding for Bar D Livestock, a small family farm located in Lewisburg, Ohio.
Bar D Livestock is owned by a young couple named Eli and Aurora, who opened their farm to run a cattle operation. They expanded their farm in 2022 to open to their community with seasonal goods and hosting local events such as farmer's markets. In the Fall of 2022, Bar D Livestock sold pumpkins and mums to the community during harvest season. For Winter of 2022, they sold Christmas trees and opened their farm to the community with lots of fun Christmas activities.
When Bar D Livestock came to me in need of a logo, they had no particular ideas in mind. The only request for their logo and branding was having turquoise and orange in their color palette. I began sketching a few ideas for a logo revolving around livestock.
I sent the 3 vectorized logos to Bar D Livestock to see if they liked any of the concepts and wanted to move forward with one. They decided they liked the ear tag logo best - as it did not limit the types of livestock at their farm, or only show three different species. I agreed with this and moved forward with this logo for them. They decided they did not want anything changed on this logo, so I provided it in another color scheme for them.
Final logos for Bar D Livestock:
Soon after finishing the logo for Bar D Livestock, Aurora from Bar D began offering cryotherapy services to horses, cattle, sheep, goats, and other livestock. She decided to go with the name "Bar D Therapy" for this service.
I wanted to branch off of the original Bar D Livestock logo to create the Bar D Therapy logo. Keeping the same concepts/branding would bring cohesiveness between. Bar D Livestock and Bar D Therapy.
I took the ear tag concept from the Bar D Livestock logo and added it to the new concepts for Bar D Therapy, and kept the same color palette. This brought together the two logos for a cohesive look.
While Aurora was liking the direction that these concepts were going in, she decided she did not want a cattle figure in this logo, because she wanted to offer her services to other species as well as cattle. I took this into consideration when finalizing the concept.
This is the final logo approved by the client:
